PCOS weight loss: When too much choice is paralysing

You’re probably what the hell we’re talking about? But before we lose you to memes and cute cat videos, stay and hear me out…
It finally came to me today when I was deciding on a new pair of gym leggings, although actually, it has been staring me in the face for a very long time.
I started my shop for a pair of leggings at about 4.30 in a local store this afternoon. I didn’t leave until gone 5. What’s worse…I left without a pair of leggings.
There were simply too many to choose from.
Upon entering the store, I was bombarded with brands, colours, shapes, sizes, materials and more. I just stood there with no idea where to begin. I’m sure you’re wondering why I’m posting this on a fitness blog, but I promise you it is relevant!
After 20 minutes of picking up black leggings, lycra leggings, pink leggings, patterned leggings… I was so confused that I asked a shop assistant for their opinion on what ones to get. Instead of an answer, she gave me the positives and negatives of about 6 different types! In my head I was just screaming “all I want is a pair of gym leggings!”
After another 10 minutes of more of the same, I gave up and left empty handed, feeling frustrated and slightly confused.
Had I walked in to the store and there had been only one pair of leggings or maybe even two at a push, my hand would have been forced and it would have been much less stressful!
So really, the point I’m trying to make is this. When you’re trying to choose a workout plan or nutrition plan to follow, the amount of choice can be overwhelming. I’m sure a lot of you can relate to this. Being presented with an infinite supply of opinions in the fitness game can actually cause you to do nothing at all.
It’s something many of us suffer from, battling with yourself to choose which exercise routine to follow for a couple of weeks then the motivation/appeal slowly fades away and you lose interest without making a decision at all.
It’s like there is something telling us “Okay, yeah, definitely go for that one! Oh, but wait…what if that one is better for me…or that one? Or that one?” It’s the age old saying ‘The grass is greener on the other side.’ Well, let me tell you, it’s not. Especially if you don’t take any action at all.
So I’m going to lay it out straight and make things really simple for you.
If you’re just starting out in the world of fitness and weight loss then you’re actually at an advantage! I want you to forget anything and everything you have ever read about health and fitness in any magazine or from any supplement company. What I tell you next is everything you need to know for now.
If you’re trying to lose weight:
• Cut out/down sugars. That includes drinks, sweets, chocolates etc.
• No more processed foods.
• Only drink water.
• Eat plenty of vegetables! (Absolutely essential)
• Eat plenty of meat! (Chicken, fish, steaks etc.)
• Just exercise. Walk half an hour every day!
• Pick a plan and stick to it. Hit the gym a few times a week and just work out. Forget isolating your pectorals or targeting fast twitch fibres – just pick a plan and see it through.
“There were simply too many to choose from.”
If you do those things above, I promise you will see results. If you want a plan to just get on with then have a look here.
Remember, the stricter you are and the more you put in, the more you’re going to get out. No one else is going to get you out from where you are; that’s down to you.
