The team and dream behind Spoonie Health Hub
Sarah Hannah, Fellow Spoonie

The spoonie community is a special place to be. For many people living with and battling chronic illness on a daily basis, fellow spoonie support can be a real comfort, and for some it can form the basis for long-lasting friendships and relationships. If you’re new to the term and you’re wondering ‘what is a spoonie?’, check out The Spoon Theory and what it means. But if you know, you know…and there’s a pretty good chance that you’re a member of the spoonie community too.
Life as a spoonie comes with its own set of challenges, and that’s why we’ve created Spoonie Health Hub; a place where chronic illness warriors can come together, share their experiences and take steps to make healthier lifestyles choices.
Whether you choose to fight chronic illness through exercise, nutrition, self-care or a combination of all three, Spoonie Health Hub is here to support you every step of the way. We’re a small team of two; our fitness and nutrition expert Ben, who has worked with some of the best and can offer you all the support and guidance you need to exercise safely and in a way that works with your chronic illness, and Sarah, a fellow spoonie who has been battling numerous chronic conditions for over ten years.
Using our combined knowledge and experiences, we’ve created a platform where you can find fitness and exercise plans, tasty new recipes and meal plans to suit even the strictest, most tailored of diets, plus our monthly spoonie self-care packages, which contain a selection of goodies each month to (hopefully!) give chronic illness sufferers a smile.
But we want to hear from you too! Sharing your stories and experiences will help us to better shape Spoonie Health Hub, and how we can take some of the pain out of your daily battle.
We’ll be updating our site regularly with fresh content, spoonie tips and much more. Fighting your own body on a daily basis can be an exhausting process, and we’re here to make sure that the spoonie community has its voice heard. Sometimes, there’s nothing anyone can do to make it better, and that’s a feeling that we’re familiar with. So even if exercising isn’t a possibility for you and you’re already eating in a way that helps your conditions, we’d still love for you to be a part of our community.
We’ve said it before and you’ll hear it from us time and time again; the spoonie community is a special place to be, and we couldn’t be more excited to start out journey with you. We know that often the support simply isn’t there for the chronically ill, and that many people suffer behind closed doors.
That’s why we’re here to open the doors, hear your voices, and build up a community of love, positivity, and the warrior spirit that makes spoonies so special.
More to come soon!
